Oat Yes!

Overnight oatmeal in a jar AKA overnight oats is an easy breakfast you can throw together the night before.

Unlike stovetop oatmeal, overnight oats are not cooked and instead are soaked in a liquid (usually in a kind of milk) overnight in the refrigerator. This allows the oats to absorb the liquid and become soft and creamy.

How to Make Overnight Oats

Making overnight oats takes minutes to prepare! All you need is your oatmeal base, any mix-ins of your choice and top with whatever you like - the world is your OAT-ster

*The Golden Ratio:

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 2/3 - 3/4 cup milk of choice

Optional Mix-Ins

  • chia seeds - this gives overnight oats that thick pudding texture, plus it's loaded with nutritional benefits
  • nut butter - a tablespoon of your favourite nut butter will of course add flavour but it also adds texture
  • yogurt - great for adding a little tang and some extra protein
  • sweetener - honey, maple syrup or even a mashed banana
  • spices - experiment with different flavours! cinnamon, nut meg, cocoa powder, etc.

Toppings:

  • fruit
  • nuts
  • seeds

You can enjoy overnight oats hot or cold! We like to warm it up during the colder seasons - in a microwave is fine, just make sure the container is microwave safe.

*Depending on your mix-ins, you may need to adjust your liquid amount.
